Gatorade Guinea Pigs

Appalachian State is taking part in a study sponsored by Gatorade for a dietary supplement. A group of riders will be tested to see if "beta glucan" will help them deal with the stress of high exertion.
They will test 10 cyclists chosen from local contacts. This is an early phase trial but still there is a very small number of people hardly chosen at random. The sad thing is that this is probably a much better test than some others use for their dietary supplements. Next we wait to see how many baseball players keep this in their lockers.
