Drug Monitoring Over Time

Team SlipStream will be trying a new drug testing program on its own athletes. They will not be testing directly for banned substances but instead will monitor their riders over time looking for changes in their body chemistry. The team saw a need to do this to prevent nervous sponsors from leaving the sport.
The cost for this new program is approximately $400,000 per year for the team. As teams start their own drug testing programs the costs for running a team are skyrocketing. It is a nasty circle. Big time sponsorships have created huge pressures on teams to win. The resulting increase in drug use now threatens to take over the cycling team's budgets and will increase the need for high dollar sponsorships.
