Now What?

Now that Lance has retired some folks are asking where the sport will go now. Bicycles have been selling at a record pace and participation is up as well. The numbers of racers is still rising. With Lance off the scene, and the sport mired in drug problems, though, can we still defy gravity?
There are many more outlets for racing now. The question is whether or not that will help to draw people to the sport. I like to ride fast myself, but that is more about pain than anything else. Speed is not what keeps me going. It is to be able to get out and travel without a windshield between me and the world. We have Lance to inspire us with sport, now we need the inspiration of freedom to keep people in the saddle.
